Viable "seed com" requires aninnovation infrastructure in which bright minds are provided the resources andfreedom to create and invent according to their passions and curiosities, totake bold risks, and even to fail. Such an innovation infrastructure thrived inthe U.S. in the late 20th century as a collaboration that put Americans on themoon, and to the personal computer, the Internet, and the era of genomicmedicine. Americans are ready and willing to embracethe goal of once again leading the world in innovation. This could be the moonshot for the next decade that unifies our country.
